🌿 When All We Can Do Is Look Up

Psalm 123

“I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.”

Some days, faith feels like climbing a hill. Other days, it feels like simply lifting our eyes.

Psalm 123 is one of the “Songs of Ascent,” written for weary travelers making their way to Jerusalem. They sang these words to remind themselves where their help comes from.

The psalmist doesn’t offer complicated theology—just humble dependence.
He compares himself to a servant watching the hand of the master, waiting for a signal.
That’s a posture of trust: staying attentive, expectant, and ready to respond.

When we look up to God, we’re not pretending everything’s fine.
We’re acknowledging that we’re not in control—but He is.
We lift our eyes not because the journey is easy, but because His mercy is greater than our weakness.

Maybe that’s where you are today—tired, stretched, or quietly discouraged.
Psalm 123 invites you to do one thing: look up.
Look to the One who sees, who knows, and who shows mercy in His time and way.
